D.I .: Now the process of creating a new recipe, from scratch, has been greatly improved. We have a special department in the Salad Box that does that. In the NPD department, things are quite well organized and we know exactly what steps we need to follow so that the path from the idea of ​​a new product to reach the customer is as thorough as possible.

The first recipes from Salad Box had a longer creative process. I remember with nostalgia how I spent a whole week researching everything I found at that time on & ldquohealthy food & rdquo. It was not easy for me to decide what kind of salads and complementary products to start with, where to place ourselves on the market, how much to risk with the combinations.

But now looking back, I think I chose the right combination for that moment.

Now the creative process starts almost every time due to a need of the client. After identifying the need, a period of documentation, evaluation, testing and then optimization follows. My favorite part of the work of the NDP department is this creative part.

E.B. : What advice do you give when it comes to designing a new product?

I.H .: & rdquoI care a lot about the preparation method, namely the products to be as fresh as possible and harvested in full season. In addition, I really want SaladBox products to be nutritionally balanced (with an optimal amount of carbohydrates, proteins and fats), as well as a higher amount of vitamins and minerals. I also pay attention to the caloric content, so that a new product has the amount of calories needed for the meal to be consumed (for example, if the product is suitable for lunch, it will have a higher energy content than a snack).

E.B .: Doroteea, I found out that the creative department consults a dietitian. Do you choose seasonal ingredients and how do trends in world food influence recipes and new menus?

For seasonal salads, seasonal ingredients are chosen and in the showcase with ingredients we try to put as many fresh ingredients as possible from local suppliers.

And yes, just like dietitian advice, trends definitely influence recipes! We strive to always be in trend and to encourage more conservative customers to try new products.

As a reaction to these trends, Chia Puddings or Nutrimixed Bowls (Nutrimixes) appeared in our portfolio.

Travel helps us a lot to understand in which direction the world food is going and where the future will be in Romania from this point of view. We are optimistic about the direction we are heading.

E.B .: Which product did you like the most to make, how to prepare it at home and which product is your favorite?

D.I .: We eat salads at home almost every day at home. So these are my favorites when it comes to design.

We really like to try all kinds of combinations with our three little girls.

Tastes change and educate, I believe with conviction! If at first I was a fan of a more classic salad like Caesar, now I like to play with the ingredients and try combinations like: arugula, pomegranate, beets, cheese, raw mushrooms, seeds and Italian dressing.

E.B .: Iulia, what are you most often asked about salads and which is your favorite?

I.H .: & rdquoI think the most common question I get is whether salads help to lose weight. The answer is yes, if I take care to choose the ingredients that will help me in this regard: whole carbohydrates (croutons, black rice, quinoa, etc.). They will gradually release energy throughout the day. Then, a good source of protein that will provide you with lasting satiety (chicken, beef, fish, egg or cheese) and of course: a lot of vegetables.

As for what I prefer, each product has its own charm, each is suitable for a different meal or a different time of day, but my favorite product will always be Green Box salad (with extra Halloumi cheese).

I.H .: I would point out that when making a new product, the process of selecting the ingredients is very important, we work a lot with local producers and they can provide us with food harvested in full season.
