Giraffe Roll Recipe of 25-04-2016 [Updated on 29-08-2018]
Today I give you a good morning with the giraffe roll,a sweet loved by children for its colors that recall those of a nice giraffe. Elisa after seeing a photo of this cake on the internet, being a great lover of animals of the savannah, asked me to prepare it for her and I didn't let her pray long before I messed with her. Despite, at first glance, prepare the giraffe roll it may seem a laborious thing, I assure you that it is a real nonsense, even for me that I have no particular artistic skills it turned out to be really very simple, so go quiet;)
To prepare the giraffe cake just divide the dough into two bowls and add a little cocoa in one, then with the light mixture form a rectangle and grids on the baking sheet to simulate the animal's stains and after a few minutes of cooking cover with the light mixture. Once the base is ready, you can indulge in the filling, I chose a ricotta and chocolate chips mousse, but also cream and Nutella or jam and fruit will do just fine.
Well friends, I don't know where you come from, but it's raining heavily here, if you want to prepare a nice one snack for your children this roll could be for you today. Today I should do a lot of services at home, but given the trend, I think instead I will sleep all day :) Basins to those who pass by and if you try the recipe, tell me the comments of your puppies;)
How to make the giraffe roll
Work the eggs and sugar until they are foamy.
Then add the sifted starch, flour and yeast and mix.
Put a little mixture in the pastry bag and create the giraffe pattern: first cover the entire outline of the pan (I used a 26x37 cm pan) lined with parchment paper, then create the outline of the spots in an irregular way.
Bake in a pre-heated ventilated oven at 180 ° C and cook for about 3 minutes (the mixture just needs to harden)
Meanwhile, add the cocoa to the remaining mixture and mix well.
Once the pan is out of the oven, pour the cocoa mixture over it and level.
Bake again, again at 180 ° C, and cook for about 15 minutes.
Remove from the oven and turn over on another sheet of parchment paper, so as to find the drawing facing up.
Gently remove the parchment paper from the top of the design, then roll the cookie dough being careful not to break it, leaving the design on the outside. Let it cool down.
Whip the cream and mix it with the ricotta and icing sugar.
Once the roll has cooled, open it gently, wet it with the rum syrup (alternatively you can use sweetened milk, milk and cocoa or milk and coffee) and fill it with the ricotta mousse.
Sprinkle with the chocolate drops, then roll up again. If necessary, even the outer edges, leaving at least part of the outline clear.
Your giraffe roll is ready! You can serve it immediately or keep it in the fridge for a few hours.
